Once you have created assignments, you have several options in regard to filing in the scores. First, click on the Scoresheet tab. Now, hold down the control button (or right click on a PC) on the “bright colored” part of the assignment – where you see the assignment name. You should now have the option of: show details, copy assignments, etc. Select “fill scores.” Check the box that says “fill scores” and enter a score. Click OK. You can now change any student’s score, without affecting the others.
If everyone else has received a grade, and you want to enter “late” or “missing” for the other students, you hold down the control key and click on the assignment and select “fill scores.” You can then select “items with no score.” You can then mark them all as late or missing.

How can I enter a comment for a one student on a specific assignment?

How can I let parents know a few more details about a specific assignment?
To add more details to an assignment, simply add that information in the “description” box that appears as you create the assignment. This is a GREAT way to communicate more details about a certain assignment, test, or project. Parents will see this information when they login to PTG.
What do I do when a student transfers to another section or out of your classes completely?
Nothing. They will appear as dropped. You will still see be able to see them, however, in that class.

Can all teachers see the grades for my students?
Teachers can login at any time and see a student’s current grade (if they have that student in one of their classes) in ANY class. This is a very helpful tool, and can especially be useful with our “at risk” students. Any person with administrator rights to PowerSchool (for example, your principal and assistant principals) can see this information for any student in the school.
When I enter an assignment, I see that there is a “weight” of 1.00. I use “total points”….what do I do?
The “weight” of 1.00 simply means that you want PTG to count that assignment for 1.00 of its original value. If you change it to 2.00, it will count for twice the normal points. If you change it to 0.00, however, the assignment doesn’t count at all!
How do I copy assignments from one class to another?
Click on the “Tools” menu at the top of your screen. Select “Copy Assignments.” Select the assignment(s) you want to copy, and the classes to which you want them copied.
Do parents see an assignment as soon as I enter it in PTG?
The default in PTG is that the gradebook “publishes” the assignment (lets the parent see it) as soon as you enter it. If you do NOT want to grant parents this kind of immediate access, simply click on the “publish” tab while you are creating the assignment. You have the option of publishing it: on the due date, a certain number of days prior to when it’s due, etc.
What do I do if recently entered or transferred students aren't showing up in the correct class?
Go to the File Menu and select “Refresh Class Info.” or restart the program. If that still doesn't work, contact the designated AP to make sure the transfer has taken place officially.

What if I want to use certain categories for some classes, and other categories for other classes?
The categories you have listed on the bottom left side of your screen is simply your gamut of possible categories to use with ANY class. You could choose to only use “Participation” for your advisory class, or only “Test and Quizzes” for a Lit. Skills class. No one sees the categories unless you have created an assignment for them within that category.
How do I print out a hard copy of my gradebook where I can hand write in scores?
Go to the Reports tab and click on "Attendance Grid." Check the box that says "No Dates." You can then choose as many columns as you want to be printed on the report (see drop down menu that says # of days). Click on "Run Report" and "Open Report." You can then print out a hard copy of your gradebook.
How do I Add Course Despriptions?
If you want to add course specific information (like grading policies, policies on late work, course descriptions, etc.) click on the "Class Content" tab. You can then either enter the information in the box provided, or click on the "+link" and add a link to your blog under the URL tab.
Do I need to update my Java?
